Giving
![]()
People give for many reasons. The motivation to give may come from
a personal reaction to the care and concern given by the hospital
staff or in appreciation of the skill and dedication displayed by
an individual doctor or nurse. The gift can come from community
pride or simply the desire to perpetuate superior medical care. A
gift is often made because of a pure and simple desire to do good,
to help others.
As medical costs continue to rise and sources of funding are steadily declining, Northridge Hospital faces formidable challenges to maintain its goals of superior patient care and commitment to our community's health needs. Your generosity ensures that the hospital will continue to provide the finest quality health care available.
Giving Opportunities
Ways of Giving
Planning a gift carefully can be as important to you as the gift is
to us. Tax considerations are seldom the primary motive in
philanthropy. However, tax consequences often play a role in
determining how your gift should be made and the level of your
gift. We will be pleased to answer any questions you might have in
this regard. In addition, we encourage you to consult your own
legal and financial advisors to receive professional advice
concerning various tax and other financial considerations.
Cash Gift by Check or Credit Card
A cash gift by check is the most common method of making a
charitable contribution even though a comparison with other methods
shows this is not necessarily the most cost-effective option.
A cash gift gives you income tax savings and gives immediate
financial support.

Gift of Marketable Securities
The second most frequently used asset for current charitable giving
is marketable securities that have appreciated in value, held for
over one year. This gift to us produces two tax savings - a
deduction for the current value, and avoidance of the capital gains
tax.
Real Estate Gifts
An outright gift of undeveloped land or developed property is
generally fully deductible for its current fair market value. The
property is frequently worth much more than the original cost of
land or the depreciated value of structures; the gift nevertheless
completely avoids capital gains tax that would be payable were the
property to be sold. As with appreciated securities, the two tax
savings combine to reduce the net cost of the gift to the donor.
Matching Gifts
Many employers have matching gift programs that will match your
gift to Northridge Hospital. Please check with your employer.

The Legacy Society Planned Gifts
Have you thought about making a significant philanthropic gift that can save lives and give you something in return? Do you want to make a contribution without using your current assets? You can accomplish these goals by making a deferred gift in support of Northridge Hospital Medical Center. In addition to creating long-term health care benefits for your community, you may also achieve substantial tax benefits. If you are interested in making a deferred gift, we invite you to consider joining the Legacy Society of Northridge Hospital Foundation. The Legacy Society is a membership society for a special group of individuals with a vision for the future of health care at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
Partners Program Annual Fund
In order to continue providing outstanding health care to all of our patients, Northridge Hospital must constantly purchase new equipment, improve existing technology, and update and maintain hospital facilities. The Partners Program Annual Fund was developed to help Northridge Hospital meet these ongoing needs.
Give in Honor or Memory of Someone
Tribute and Memorial Program
Our Tribute and Memorial Program provides you with the opportunity to give a gift of lasting value. Whether it is an inscription on a donor wall or a grand public monument, a memorial gift honors the life of a family member or beloved friend year round. Loved ones can also contribute together to establish a special fund in person's memory to be used for a specific need. A tribute gift may be made in celebration of a birthday, wedding anniversaries, or other special one-time occasions. A tribute gift can be made as a way of thanking a special nurse or physician for the care received. When you send us a charitable gift as a memorial or tribute, the Foundation will send a card to the person or family you designate - notifying them of your thoughtful contribution. The amount you give is always confidential. |
